US Web Usage and Traffic in December, 2003

Nielsen/NetRatings and comScore Media Metrix have released figures on US Internet users for December of last year.

The average US web user logged 31 sessions from home and 63 sessions from work, and visited only 55 different domains from home and 99 different domains from work. The linked article provides a long list of top sites and the number of visitors.

One item of interest in these numbers is the total number of domains visited, particularly at work. This number has actually increased in recent years; webmasters had voiced concerns that people were going to fewer and fewer sites (this being bad news for small business websites). Some of the "at work" traffic is related to personal concerns, but it looks as though your business users are exploring more sites.
