Do You Think People Just Love To Explore Your Site?

Story:

In a recent article posted on his usability web site, expert Jakob Nielsen quotes a new Xerox PARC study on user behavior.

One remarkable output from this study, which consolidated comments from over 2,100 web users, ONLY 2 PERCENT of the users described themselves as just "exploring" a site to find information.

71% described themselves as collecting specific information to meet a particular goal, or were using a Find or Search feature to get a particular piece of information.

Analysis:

None. But if your site design and web concept revolves around the idea that people will explore your site to find the good stuff, beware!
